where will I be next year?

I went for an interview last Tuesday at KK and I met up with one of the hotel chain's group gm. I am looking for a move, out of Sandakan. I have been at this current hotel for more than 3 years now and I believe it is time to move on. The longer I stay here, the more stagnant I will become. I am not moving forward with this company, I am not gaining any additional experience and the most important is I am not improving myself at all. I want to be someone who is running in the front in this industry and not someone who is sitting behind and don't know what is happening out there. I think I can only achieve that if I leave this company and join a proper hotel, a hotel run by professional, not by a bunch of no-hoppers.

Hopefully I will get my break next year. Even if I am not going to go to another city, I will still try to join another hotel in the same city cause enough is enough.

SESB, pay me back my RM18.00

The nightmare is back!
I was supposed to play my weekly badminton game with my friends last night at the Yu Yuan hall at 7pm. When I arrived at the venue at 655pm, the whole place was in total darkness, so dark until you cannot see your own five fingers. Why? Power Outage again!!!

There were so many promise made after the much publicized East-West Grid was completed earlier and they (SESB) came out and said there will be less blackout from now on, even there is blackout, the restoration time will be very much shorter. Well, they can say all they want, believe it or not, it is up to you. For me, I will not believe a single word they said, simply because they are all lier! If you believe even one word they said, you will be doomed, fore sure.

We are supposed to be a developed country in 2020. I think the government only meant developed country in peninsula, in particular KL, definitely not Sabah and 100% not Sandakan. I am very sure, we will still be where we are by 2020 in terms of power woes. It will never get fixed.

This morning when I flipped through the useless local Merdeka Daily News, I just found out Sunny estate residents suffered a 10 hours blackout the day before. But I still want my RM18.00 back for not able to play at the badminton court that we already paid due to SESB useless power maintenance!

Pay me back, SESB

I am tired...

I am tired of listening to broken English
I am tired of incapable leader
I am tired of chaotic environment
I am tired of a place with no vision and mission
I am tired of seeing stupid decision and have to stick by it
I am tired of meeting which speaks dialect
I am tired of working for someone who does not know the job completely
I am tired....

I want to leave...one day, hopefully soon..

After moved...

I realised I miss my parents after I moved to the new house 1.5 months ago. When I was staying with them, we see each other everyday, we did not spend much talking or chatting. Last Sunday, we invited dad over for dinner (mom went to her usual Sunday's activity), I could see from his face that he was happy to dine with us and he could try out Ling's cooking for the first time which he said it was pretty good. After dinner, we sat in the living room and start talking. We talked about politics, we talked about a lot of other things. When I was still at the old house, we seldom talk like that, at this length. You can always learn something when you talk to a senior, no matter how smart you think you are. There are always some of their experience or stories which can be useful as a guidance in our life.

I am glad I have spent some time with my dad and I plan to do so more often in the future with both of them, provided mom can give up her Sunday hobby once a while, haha

We should always treasure what we have now instead of regretting when we don't have it anymore.

New House. New Home

Moved to a new house recently. Though not a very big house, but it is big enough for me and my wife. We always wanted to have a place of our own and now we have it. My wife is happy, she can now cook everyday, for me. (so I am happy too!) We live next to my in-laws, my wife's parents (duh!) so she is even more happier because of that.

I can't wait to go home after work now, may be the feeling is still new, still fresh. I just love to sit on the couch and do nothing, may be looking at the ceiling, doing some deep thinking..
My wife has a cousin, he is 2 years old +. This little fellow lives next to us and he is very talkative. I already knew that before we moved in but I didn't realise he is SO talkative! he can ask you a thousand questions a day (a bit exaggerated, though, :) ). It is fun to have him around, he cracks you up and he makes you laugh

Returning to Sinagpore..

Because of work, I returned to Singapore for 4D3N in April.
Walking on the street of Singapore is like walking down the memory lane. There are so many memories flash back, forgettable and unforgettable ones.
Anyway, It felt nice to come back to a place where I spent my best 7 years in my 20's. If not for what I have gone through there, I would not be who I am today.

Met some old friends in Singapore. It was nice to catch up with them and see their faces again. There are some I wanted to meet but did not manage to do so, may be next time.

It was a short trip but good enough.

Coming to Singapore..

It has been more than two years since the last time I stepped foot on this piece of land where I spent my best years in my 20's. Come middle of April, I will be there again because of work. People said when a city is getting more and more advanced and sophisticated, you tend not to find a lot fo true friends. I don't know how far is true but I do know I still have quite a number of true, good friends in the Lion city. Though we may not email each other that often, though we may not even call each once a month, I believe our friendship has long been established many years ago and the bond is so strong that no regular maintenance is necessary, I guess. We do sms once a while, I do think about them once a while, I am not sure about them though, :)

Hopefully I can see all of them again in this coming short and time congested trip to Singapore.

Chinese New Year..

Last time, I will be very much looking forward to this yearly event But now, it just seems like another day to me. In the past, all the old classmates or schoolmates would come out for gathering or things like that but we did not even bother to call each other this time round. May be everyone is busy with their own life after married and had kids. Priority in life has changed, I guess.

In the year to come, I think it is time for me to move one step forward. I am not sure if I am ready but if I do not do it now, me and my wife will be getting old pretty soon and we do not want to have a too big generation gap with our future generation. It is not an easy decision to make in life and it is a very important one also.

Not a good start to the New Year

My hometown, Sandakan, has been suffering from non-stop raining since the first day of 2007. It is really 24/7 kinda rain..My house was flooded once, we got up at 430am to clear the water. From then on, reports of landslides, fallen tree, broken roads were found at every corner of this small town. Life were lost, properties were damaged, traffic is congested even on a weekend due to road closure here and there. People here has been living in fear, I guess for the past 10 days or so as you may not know if your car gonna be hit by the next falling tree or broken road. I realise we are still much luckier than our fellow countrymen in the Peninsula, nonetheless we have also never experience this kinda raining season before. I just hope we will see the sun soon, real soon...
